Those Who Forget History Are Destined To Repeat It…
… or in this case, those who never learn history are destined to repeat it.

A newspaper in Jordan, for an April Fool’s prank, published that UFOs were spotted the night before with 10 foot giant aliens. Â The “report” almost prompted the evacuation of 13,000 people. Â Children didn’t go to school; the town of Jafr was in panic!
It was a harmless prank but officials are labeling it as a “big lie”.  What the hell is wrong with these people?  Someone tells me they read aliens landed last night, I’m probably going to ask how much they’ve been drinking.  Use some common sense.
This is a testament to what happens in a culture of disinformation. Â A lack of worldly understanding and diversity let them slide into the ignorance of 80 years ago.
1938, when radio and its varied entertainment programs still were novel to many families and households, Orson Welles broad-casted “War of the Worlds”.  This was a story acted out as if the town was in an alien battle.  People were in panic mode, particulary those who tuned in later and missed the beginning  it was just a play.
It is 2010, why is there a place on this earth that is so naive and sheltered that the irrationality of 80 years ago still thrives?
In fairness, the same can be said for the United States reliving the Great Depression almost a century later.
